INTRODUCTION TO BLOG

Communication and the architecture of games are my passions. As a result, this Game Design module appeals to me more than others (not that the other modules are any less interesting). The reason is as follows - first and foremost I am a story-teller. Whether through symbolism, aesthetics, words or documentation, being able to communicate an idea to gain a response and accomplish a result is what I strive to practice throughout my future career. Apply this to a lifelong passion of gaming, and I thirst to use the medium of video games to facilitate such communication. Through learning, researching and understanding the fundamental aspects of ‘all’ forms of games, I can hopefully one day become a Lead Game Designer to translate a personal vision into a shared vision through the art of Video Games.

This is the sole purpose of this module’s blog: to document my path to such a goal within Game Design. Throughout this module you will see regular posts on course progression, portfolio development and independent research. You may also see a couple of miscellaneous posts that I believe relate to this module as reference for myself. You will see this through a variety of texts, images, references and possibly other mediums.

My goal with this blog is to not just exhibit my knowledge, but to also highlight my lack of knowledge when it comes to Game Design. I know I have limited knowledge on the subject in question, thus I hope and aim to develop and refine my knowledge into a not just a pool of comprehension, but as a practical tool that I can utilise in the future with great success - not just with me, but with others.

I’m feeling positive about this individual post, however in a year’s time or three years time I hope to look back on it and recognise my lack of experience and knowledge. If this isn’t the case, I will have failed to achieve my own personal goal outside of this blog.

Therefore my next post will be the start of adhering to the promises I have made in this welcoming post.
